Hey, we just met you, and this is crazy, but here's a bid, so sign it maybe? TSM
Getting my bid was one of the most exciting nights of my life. I didn't go through formal recruitment, so I only knew one girl in my pledge class (I mean Phi class). Bid day was overwhelming, exciting, amazing, and so much fun. After almost a week of waiting after getting my bid, I was so glad to finally be able to shout to the world that I joined Phi Mu!
And on Wednesdays, we wear letters. TSM
This is a picture of the first time I wore my letters. I still remember the pride I felt to have those letters on my chest, and I still feel that every single time I wear my letters. They mean so much to me, and they let the world know that I am a sister of Phi Mu Fraternity!
Sees camera: squats. TSM
My beautiful chapter! Now, sorority life isn't always sunshine and roses. And trust me, a lot of my time as a collegiate member was rough. I wouldn't give it up, but I wasn't exactly sad to see it go. The chapter I left was almost nothing like the chapter I joined. It made a lot of changes that I didn't agree with, and we gave bids to a lot of girls who I don't think had the best interest of our sisterhood at heart. Fortunately, though, I hear a lot of positive changes are being made lately.
"So what's your little sister's name?" "Little." TSM
My Big, Caroline, is one of my favorite people in the whole world. She's funny, she's smart, she's beautiful. I love her to pieces and I am so glad she came into my life. She makes me laugh all the time, and she's always the first person I drunk dial during a night out.
That alumna who is equal parts terrifying and fabulous. TSM
Hey Big Brother fans, did you know Rachel Reilly is my sister? Not only is she a Phi Mu, but she's actually from my chapter. She partied with us at homecoming last year and everything. It's okay to be jealous. Now, we were obviously discouraged from telling PNM's this fun little fact, but the actives still thought it was pretty awesome!
I went to college to meet my bridesmaids, not my husband. TSM
This is my FPS which, for you non-greeks, means favorite pledge sister. From the moment we first realized we had a class together (because we literally stopped walking, stared at each other, and said "Are... you in Phi Mu?") and that we were both social work majors, we knew we were in it for the long haul. She was one of my very best friends in college, my greatest confidante, the shoulder I always cried on. So many of my best memories are with her, like laying on the bathroom floor at a party and talking about life while people banged on the door. No matter where life leads us, she'll always hold a very special place in my heart.
There's a lot of things I'd do for my sisters, but being Sober Sister for the social isn't one of them. TSM
While I was active my chapter only actually had three socials, and I was only able to go to two. The picture above is from the "Let's Get Nerdy!" social, and I must admit that I wasn't actually intoxicated. This social took place maybe a week after my Bid Day, so it was kind of weird. We really didn't know anyone yet, and Sam couldn't come because he was at home getting his wisdom teeth out, so I took one of his brothers as my date instead! Regardless, I had a great time at this social, and it is one of my first Phi Mu memories.
I'd rather be crafting. TSM
When you join a sorority, you craft a lot. I'm pretty sure that's a universal rule. If I ran out of things to craft for Phi Mu, I'd craft for my boyfriend and his brothers instead. Isn't Sam's pin box cute?
Letters off, Bottoms up! TSM
Here's that other social I was talking about. The theme was "The Morning After," and don't even ask me how we got nationals to approve that; I'm pretty sure we just lied to them. This time I was drunk. Off my ass. This social was a blast and a half; I danced so hard, I drank a lot, and I celebrated the fact that I had just become and alumna the week before! I seriously want to relive this night every weekend until forever.
There's a t-shirt for that. TSM
If you're in a sorority I don't have to explain this to you, but you know how they say sororities make t-shirts for everything? Yeah, that's true. When my Big graduated she had over 80 t-shirts. Thank god for senior wills, right?!
If you're not mentioned in Luke Bryan's 'Sorority Girls' you're not a real sorority. TSM
We also have a Lilly Print... #nottobragbut ;)
