The Liebs

The oh-so-sweet Sarah over at Sweet Happenings nominated me for a Liebster award last week, and I'm really excited to participate! The Liebster award is given to up and coming bloggers with under 200 followers and it allows participants to discover new blogs and learn more about the bloggers.  Basically what you do is answer questions from the blogger who tagged you, then create a new set of questions for the bloggers who you tag. Super cute idea!

Liebster is a German word meaning sweetest, nicest, kindest, dearest, beloved, lovely, kind, pleasant, valued, cute, endearing and welcome.

Here are the rules for receiving this award:
1. Answer the questions that the nominator sets for you, and then create 11 questions for the people you've tagged to answer.
2. Choose 11 people and link them in your post (must have less than 200 followers)
I choose Leslie, Kelli, The Peanut Program, Erin, Kristin, Whitney, Megan, Lindsey, Kara, Jameson, & Juliette (I based this off of bloglovin' followers, GFC might be different)
3. Go to their page and tell them.

1. What's your favourite season and why? Either summer or fall. I like summer because I love sunshine, shorts, and being warm, but I love fall because of the leaves, breeze, and football season! It's a hard choice, really.
2. What's your biggest fear? Getting hit by a train. Terrifying.
3. Least favourite food? This is a hard question! I don't know what my least favorite food is, but I really don't like spicy food. Even a little spice is often too much for me.
4. Nysnc or Backstreet Boys? Backstreet Boys all the way! I was never really into Nsync. I mean, I liked their music but I never even owned an album.

5. Renting a movie or going to a movie? Renting. I am not good at watching movies, so if I'm gonna take a nap it might as well be on my own couch :p
6. What's your favourite song at the moment? Highway Don't Care by Taylor Swift (my fav) and Tim McGraw. Love that song!
7. If you could live in any city in the world right now, where would it be and why? Alamogordo, NM. It is absolutely gorgeous there, and I just really feel like I need a big change in my life while I'm not tied down by anything. Although I am super excited to be moving to Charlotte in a few weeks! :)
8. Tea or coffee? Tea, especially if it's a Chai Tea Latte from Starbucks.

9. Favourite book? I don't really have a favorite, but the A Child Called It trilogy was really good. It was such an unbelievable and inspiring story, and it triggered a lot of emotion in me.
10.Most memorable trip? New York City for Spring Break 2011! This was hands down the best vacation I've ever gone on, and I am dying to go back.
11.How would you describe your decorating style? Young. I've never really decorated anything but a dorm room. I may have graduated, but I'm honestly in no hurry to get new stuff. I have so much orange and pink stuff it would be a hassle to change it when it is all still in good shape.

Just throwing this in because every good
blog post has a kitten gif.

My questions for those that I tagged:

1. What's your favorite color? (I always like to know this about people)
2. What's your favorite blog post you've written so far?
3. Are you a cat person or a dog person?
4. Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
5. What food allergy would you not be able to handle?
6. If you could make out with any famous person who would it be?
7. What are your goals/aspirations for your blog?
8. If you had to get rid of all of your technology except one item, what would you keep? (i.e. cellphone, computer, e-reader, etc.)
9. What is your go-to clothing item in your closet?
10. Why did you start blogging?
11. Describe your dream date:

So, get to it! Hopefully my questions aren't too cheesy :)

Shark Week

Yesterday I posted about the show Shark Tank, and since it is Shark Week after all I thought I'd keep with the sharky theme. Too bad I didn't think of this Monday.

8 things that should just get eaten by sharks:

This gif makes me pee myself.
1) All the Halloween candy that's already out on the shelves. It is AUGUST. Let's just celebrate the holiday that actually happens this month, my birthday, and save the Halloween crap for when it's actually fall. Thanks.

2) People who walk side by side down the middle of the damn sidewalk. Hello, I have places to be. Can you move your leisurely stroll to the right a little?

3) Girls who dress like Skankzilla and then wonder why disgusting men try and hit them up. If you tuck your chesticles back into your shirt people will stop talking about them. Just try it, it works.

4) Mona from Pretty Little Liars. I don't trust that B one bit. I'd like to see how many text messages the liars get once we feed her to Jaws.

5) My creeper neighbor who always conveniently has yard work to do when I'm in the backyard tanning. You're the one who put up the eleventy zillion "no trespassing" signs, so keep your eyes in your own yard. (PS. Does this sound hypocritical because of #3? Meep).

6) People who constantly post about how sad/mad/upset they are, but then ignore the comments asking what's going on. If you're going to post 20 depressing statuses a day people are going to wonder what's up, so don't mention it if you don't want to talk about it.

7) Those two cars that drive next to each other on the highway going 5 under the speed limit. Seriously, MOVE. If you're not going fast enough to pass them then you shouldn't be next to them.

8) People who complain that it's too hot when it's 80 degrees, and that it's too cold when it's 70. WHAT DO YOU WANT?!

Sooo what would you throw into shark infested waters?

I definitely would not feed this song to the sharks. Obsessed! :)

Shark Tank

Does anyone else love this show as much as I do? Seriously, it's great.

So I was thinking about what I would invest in if I was a shark, and I must say, I have some brilliant ideas.

Zero Calorie Ice Cream- Why doesn't this exist yet? If we can have zero calorie pop then why isn't there zero calorie, well, everything? I know that Diet Coke isn't good for you, but people buy it. And people would most definitely buy the ice cream, too. I'll take that deal.

Magic Nail Polish- You know those markers that only write on paper? Now imagine nail polish that did that. You would never have to worry about getting paint on the edges, and you wouldn't have to be terrified when your 3-yr-old niece says "Can I paint your nails?"

Push Up Sports Bra- Why aren't these more popular? I mean, sure I'm wearing a sports bra because I'm getting ready to work out too lazy to put on a real bra, but I still want to have nice boobies. I will market these to the masses, and they will sell like hotcakes. Trust me.

Fur-resistant Little Black Dress- Crazy cat ladies everywhere will go nuts! Imagine, you put on your LBD for a night on the town, then you pick up Fluffy to kiss him goodbye, and DAMN IT! Your dress is covered in cat fur. Now you have to find the lint roller, and you missed your cab, and your date leaves, and your whole night is ruined. But what if fur didn't stick to your dress? Your social life is saved!

Brilliant!
Plug in Coffee Cup- Don't you hate when your Mocha Latte gets cold, and you take a sip but it's so disgusting you have to spit it all over your friend? Now, what if you had a coffee cup that plugged into the wall to keep it heated to the perfect temperature? Just adjust the dial to your desired temp and enjoy a hot cup of coffee all day! And for the commute to work, a car adapter is included. Obviously.

So there you have it! If I had any business and/or inventing skills, I would market these to the sharks and they would give me lots of money and we'd all be millionaires! Too bad I don't.

Total Sorority Move

I'm a sister of Phi Mu, so you can probably guess that when I saw that Kelly, Chelsee, Amanda, and Kristyn were having a link-up for sorority women I nearly jumped out of my seat with excitement. One of my absolute favorite things about being in a sorority is having thousands of sisters across the country, and having a bond of sisterhood with women who I've never even met! I had to get in on this. I absolutely can't wait to meet other Phi Mu ladies, as well as all the other fabulous Greek women who link up!

Hey, we just met you, and this is crazy, but here's a bid, so sign it maybe? TSM
Getting my bid was one of the most exciting nights of my life. I didn't go through formal recruitment, so I only knew one girl in my pledge class (I mean Phi class). Bid day was overwhelming, exciting, amazing, and so much fun. After almost a week of waiting after getting my bid, I was so glad to finally be able to shout to the world that I joined Phi Mu!

And on Wednesdays, we wear letters. TSM
This is a picture of the first time I wore my letters. I still remember the pride I felt to have those letters on my chest, and I still feel that every single time I wear my letters. They mean so much to me, and they let the world know that I am a sister of Phi Mu Fraternity!

Sees camera: squats. TSM
My beautiful chapter! Now, sorority life isn't always sunshine and roses. And trust me, a lot of my time as a collegiate member was rough. I wouldn't give it up, but I wasn't exactly sad to see it go. The chapter I left was almost nothing like the chapter I joined. It made a lot of changes that I didn't agree with, and we gave bids to a lot of girls who I don't think had the best interest of our sisterhood at heart. Fortunately, though, I hear a lot of positive changes are being made lately.

"So what's your little sister's name?" "Little." TSM
My Big, Caroline, is one of my favorite people in the whole world. She's funny, she's smart, she's beautiful. I love her to pieces and I am so glad she came into my life. She makes me laugh all the time, and she's always the first person I drunk dial during a night out.

That alumna who is equal parts terrifying and fabulous. TSM
Hey Big Brother fans, did you know Rachel Reilly is my sister? Not only is she a Phi Mu, but she's actually from my chapter. She partied with us at homecoming last year and everything. It's okay to be jealous. Now, we were obviously discouraged from telling PNM's this fun little fact, but the actives still thought it was pretty awesome!

I went to college to meet my bridesmaids, not my husband. TSM
This is my FPS which, for you non-greeks, means favorite pledge sister. From the moment we first realized we had a class together (because we literally stopped walking, stared at each other, and said "Are... you in Phi Mu?") and that we were both social work majors, we knew we were in it for the long haul. She was one of my very best friends in college, my greatest confidante, the shoulder I always cried on. So many of my best memories are with her, like laying on the bathroom floor at a party and talking about life while people banged on the door. No matter where life leads us, she'll always hold a very special place in my heart.

There's a lot of things I'd do for my sisters, but being Sober Sister for the social isn't one of them. TSM
While I was active my chapter only actually had three socials, and I was only able to go to two. The picture above is from the "Let's Get Nerdy!" social, and I must admit that I wasn't actually intoxicated.  This social took place maybe a week after my Bid Day, so it was kind of weird. We really didn't know anyone yet, and Sam couldn't come because he was at home getting his wisdom teeth out, so I took one of his brothers as my date instead! Regardless, I had a great time at this social, and it is one of my first Phi Mu memories.

I'd rather be crafting. TSM
When you join a sorority, you craft a lot. I'm pretty sure that's a universal rule. If I ran out of things to craft for Phi Mu, I'd craft for my boyfriend and his brothers instead. Isn't Sam's pin box cute?

Letters off, Bottoms up! TSM
Here's that other social I was talking about. The theme was "The Morning After," and don't even ask me how we got nationals to approve that; I'm pretty sure we just lied to them. This time I was drunk. Off my ass. This social was a blast and a half; I danced so hard, I drank a lot, and I celebrated the fact that I had just become and alumna the week before! I seriously want to relive this night every weekend until forever.

There's a t-shirt for that. TSM
If you're in a sorority I don't have to explain this to you, but you know how they say sororities make t-shirts for everything? Yeah, that's true. When my Big graduated she had over 80 t-shirts. Thank god for senior wills, right?!

If you're not mentioned in Luke Bryan's 'Sorority Girls' you're not a real sorority. TSM
We also have a Lilly Print... #nottobragbut ;)

The Most Exciting Weekend EVER!

...just kidding. But it was a good one! So let's just get down to it, shall we?

Friday:

This weekend was the fair in my little town, and I was so excited to be able to go this year! Since this is my first summer post-college, it was the first time I've been to this fair since High School. Normally I'm already back in the mountains for RA training by now (cue nostalgia here).

It was a grand time. I love fairs. The food, the people, the sunshine. Love it. My favorite thing is all the vendors selling their crafty stuff. I bought some homemade dog treats that were too cute. My dog doesn't like them. Figures. Oh, and the best part? Right at the end of my road there was a winery with a booth set up, and they were doing free wine tastings. Yes, please.

Now I'm guessing you want to know about the worst part of the day? Then let me tell you about my funnel cake (which isn't the one pictured, btw) Okay, so I opted for the cinnamon sugar instead of powdered; let's try something different right? Well they totally jipped (gipped? idk) me on the cinna-sugar. But fortunately my parent's house is right off Main so I was just like "Oh, I'll just add some more when I get home. Problem solved." So I carry my delicious funnel cake home and sprinkle it like crazy with Cinnamon and sugar- this bitch is looking delish.  So I tear off a piece, take a bite, and... I had just sprinkled salt all over my damn funnel cake. Really, Mom, who keeps salt in a bowl marked with an S? My mom said "Well, just think of all the calories you saved yourself from." Yeah, I guess that's true.

Saturday:

I mostly worked all day Saturday, but after I finally got home we were sitting out by the fire and we heard a cat crying and crying. Obviously we had to rescue it. We brought him inside and he was just the sweetest thing in the world. Look how cute:

We dubbed him Noodles and I loved him. Except when I picked him up and he scratched the heck out of my arm; it turns out that Noodles doesn't like being picked up.

Sunday:

Sunday was a very lazy day. I slept late into the morning and spent the majority of the day cuddling with Noodles. Then we walked around the neighborhood and eventually found Noodle's Chewy's owners. I'm not gonna lie, I was a little sad. But my sadness was cured with Indian food for dinner- my absolute fave.

  1. Yummy veggie appetizers; the Veggie Sakora was delish
  2. Naan! 'Nuff said
  3. Palak Paneer. I could eat this for every meal and seriously never get sick of it.
  4. Before you leave they have a little dish of candy coated fennel and I am obsessed. It's so good; it reminds me of the taste of Good & Plenty candy

Sooo, if you've never had Indian food you should probably go get some for dinner tonight. And then we rented the movie Admissions. It was pretty good, although not what I expected. And I don't think I liked the ending.

So that was my weekend! Nothing too crazy, but it was a good one. And now I have to go wait impatiently for Bachelorette finale time! Yay yay yay!
