Influenster Relaunch!

So, I have posted on here about influentser, but just as a refresher it's a website where you can  then you complete tasks and take surveys about things that interest you, and they'll send you a FREE box of awesome stuff for you to try and review on their website! It's really neat.  I've gotten one box so far, the beauty voxbox, and it had so much neat stuff in it! I still use the makeup and my spray from b&bw!

Well, as the title hinted, influenster has done a RELAUNCH of their site! They've added new and exciting features and more opportunities to get boxes. Unfortunately I have had a ton of time to look around, but so far I am pretty excited!

They have new "expert" badges and you can only do five... I'm not sure how I feel about this; I want to do them all! But they have a wine one... Does this mean I'll get booze in the mail? Yes please! (just kiddingggg) They also amped up all the old badges, so the things I've already done- like the one for cat owners- I can continue working on! I love that; everyone knows I can talk about my cats all day long :)

What I like most about this is that there is so much to do!  Before, I stopped using my influenster account because I felt like I had done pretty much everything I could do but wait and hope. Same for my mom; she did SO much and never even got a box! Now there is so much you can do I can't imagine ever getting bored on influenster. Plus it gives me more reasons to update my blog! You know I neglect it sometimes ;)

I don't like everything about the new site... I don't really like the exclusivity of it. A lot of people do, but had it been exclusive before i never would have joined! Also, they claim that we'll now get more boxes, and it will be easier, but I just don't think so. I think with more people joining it will be even harder to get a box. But we'll see!

I do really like the new scoring system, and I like that there is more to do. I like the new badges, the more involved activities, and the expanded badges.

Overall, I think this was a great change. I can't wait to explore more!

The last thing I have to say is... Join now! It's a ton of fun and it's FREE :) My favorites.
& I love their logo ;D

Chick-fil-a

Okay, so I lied on my last post, it's not tomorrow. BUT, I'm writing now :)

Okay, so you know how all this chick-fil-a controversy has been going on? Well, I am a strong supported of gay marriage and I have been against chick-fil-a for a long time.  Nearly a year ago I learned that Chick-fil-a has a charitable organization called WinShape, and a major part of this is organization is that they do marriage counseling and retreats. This organization refuses to serve homosexual couples. When I learned this I stopped eating chick-fil-a.  Due to the recent controversy I've also learned that they give money to organizations that attempt to counsel homosexual boys and girls into being heterosexual, which is about the most horrible thing I have ever heard.

Now, I'm just going to be very straightforward and honest for a second:
I am literally disgusted by anyone who supports chick-fil-a.
And, I'm rather disgusted by everyone who doesn't care, too, because if you are doing nothing you are a part of the problem.

I really try my hardest not to judge people's beliefs or think differently of them merely because of their opinions, (actions are a different story, and I am against Chick-fil-a's actions, not their beliefs.) but this is a case where I really can't understand the people who are openly in support of this corporation and their horrible discrimination.  But maybe it's their actions, too? They are giving money, essentially, to these horrible organizations by giving money to Chick-fil-a.  Idk, just a thought.  What I don't understand, though, is how people can be so narrow minded, discriminatory, and just plain hateful. Why were you posting pictures of your greasy fast food on my newsfeed last week? Congratulations, you are against equal rights.  I lost respect for so many people that day, some of them people who I considered good friends.

My next thought on the subject (and hopefully it's more organized than the last) is stop telling me you believe these things because you are a Christian. I AM A CHRISTIAN, AND I SUPPORT EQUAL RIGHTS (and gay marriage).  Just because I believe in God, and because I have accepted Jesus Christ as my savior does not mean that I am incapable of making my own decisions.  I do not have to take the bible word for word, if I did I'd be going to hell for the cotton/polyester blend tank top I'm wearing.

And I'll tell you another thing, MY God would never persecute someone for being Gay.If God came to me and said "You know, Anonymous, I am really against gay marriage and I hate homosexuals" then I would say to him "You know, God, I don't want to hang out with you anymore." But I believe with my whole heart that my God is a loving God and would never believe something like that.  That's why I still hang out with him.

I don't homosexuality is wrong, not even for a Christian.  But even if I did, who am I to make that decision for other people? I can decide not to be gay (well, I actually probably can't, but that's a debate for another day) Yes, I am a Christian. Does that make me right? No. Does that make non-Christians wrong? No. We don't KNOW what is right, we can only guess and believe, just like everyone else in the world. So you've felt the presence of God and had your prayers answered? Well so have Jewish people and Muslim people and Polytheists and people who pray to their very own god, even if that god is an old tooth brush. And people who don't believe in anything choose that because they've never felt that, and they've never had their prayers answered.  Everyone chooses their own beliefs because it's what's right for them, and that's okay.
Religious Freedom is what makes this country so beautiful.
So learn to respect other people's beliefs. Learn that just because you believe you're right doesn't mean that someone else is wrong. Religion is a mystery, and by the time you know all the answers it will be too late to tell anyone else about it.  Live your life how you want to, and let everyone else do the same. Believe in God, don't be gay, but DON'T tell me I can't. And don't support those who do, because what IS wrong is discrimination.

Anyways, I apologize for this not being the most organized of posts; this subject makes me rant. So what do you think? Do you agree with me, disagree with me? Why? Are you for or against Chick-fil-a's beliefs and actions?

Until next time!

Blogging

I wish I could get more into this blogging thing! I love the idea of posting my thoughts online, and of people reading my stuff and being interested in my life, but I just cannot get into it.  Sometimes I write posts in my head, but then when I sit down to actually type it I already feel relieved. I'm going to try to get more into this, maybe post about recipes I make, crafts I do, and my weight loss journey (even though I keep ending up at rest stops). It's pretty late tonight, however, so I am gonna type another ten things list :)

Ten Things That Made Me Happy Today

1) Skyping with Sam this morning. God I miss that boy. (And I didn't meet my goal from a post last summer >:| )

2) We got to say I love you! Everytime we skype the internet cuts out before we say goodbye, and I haven't heard him say the words "I love you" in almost a month.

3) Cuddling with Carey. Freaking love that cat, I'll be devastated when she leaves :(

4) Making plans with Amber! Absolutely can't wait to see her.

5) Movie time with mom this morning. I love spending one on one time with my mommy <3

6) Painting my nails. They look so cute and barbie-ish. Hehe :)

7) Making dog treats for Taylor. So happy she liked her homemade frosty paws! (In case your hot dog needs a cool summer treat here's the link: http://www.food.com/recipe/tinkers-cuddy-homemade-frosty-paws-24965)

8) Natural Strawberry Popsicles... yummmm. Just strawberrys blended up and poured into popsicle molds.

9) Watching the cats enjoy their lazy sunday. Love those little babies <3

10) Watching Friends before bed! It's been tooooo long.

Well, until tomorrow, blog readers! I promise :)

Sally Hansen Salon Effects

So I recently received my voxbox from influenster- a site that sends you complimentary products for reviewing and testing.  The box was full of awesome products, but I was probably most excited for the Sally Hansen Salon Effects! For those of you who don't know, they are stick on nail polish strips that you can put on your nails.  They come in a ton of cool patterns as well as solid colors.
These strips are SO easy to use.  Just follow the directions in the box and they will turn out perfectly.  They only take a minute to apply and feels almost like regular nail polish, except smoother!

My first time using Sally Hansen Salon effects was in December '11.  I received "Wild Child," a zebra print,  and "Kitty, Kitty," a cheetah print, for Christmas and wanted to use the cheetah print for New Years Eve.  I've been really into the trend of painting my index finger patterned and painting the rest a solid color, so I decided to try it with this. I did red nail and Salon Effects on one finger from each hand.  It was AWESOME for  my new year's party and complimented my little black dress perfectly.  Not to mention I still had 14 strips left!

Sally Hansen claims that the strips last up to ten days, but she's lying... they last longer! I had my new years mani for over two weeks before I finally took it off.  I was able to wear it for new years, and then keep it for my sorority's recruitment week two weeks later.  I didn't even use clear coat... imagine if I had! The real problem with these mani's is my regular nail polish chipping :)
(Excuse the picture, my boyfriend helped paint my nails for me)

The next time I used the strips I remembered how much extra I had so I tried using one strip for two nails. I have really long nails, but it worked! So in that box of "Spring Fever" I had a cute mani for Spring Break amd FIFTEEN leftover strips! How awesome is that?!

The strips say that they can be removed with nail polish remover, but I always just peel them right off.  They never peel on their own but they are very easy to peel off when you're ready for a new set of Salon Effects ;) Or another mani, but why would you bother with those anymore?!  I've never actually tried to get them off with polish remover, so I'm not sure how easy it is.

In my voxbox I received a color called "Animal Instinct."  It's a pink zebra print, and very cute.  I am super excited to try it out for my bestie's 21st next week.  I'm thinking a mani like this: (just picture the white as bright pink!)
(I found this image on google)

One thing I wish SH would do is come out with a multi-color cheetah print sort of like this:

I would buy that in a heart beat!

So, in conclusion, go buy a box of Sally Hansen Salon Effects right now! They are just too awesome.
